I would like to announce that I am stepping down as the main admin of ChristophWaltzFans.com .
ChristophWaltzFans.com has grown by leaps and bounds since our humble beginnings as the Daily Dozen on Tumblr back in 2010. When I first had the idea for the site, it was a challenge that I set for myself: to make a fansite that would be officially recognied and to become the foremost internet presence for Christoph Waltz, a fine actor and wonderful human being. CWF has met both goals and then some. Along the way I have been privileged to meet and develop amazing friendships with some truly wonderful people. I’ve seen how Hollywood works and observed what fame is really all about. I’ve also had the opportunity to visit Los Angeles and New York City, and be a part of something that is completely removed from the world of a housewife from Pennsylvania.
However, the main reason CWF came into existence was to give myself a hobby that was easy to do and amusing enough to provide a mental break from the reality of my life: In 2009, my darling son was diagnosed as being on the Autism spectrum. Out of necessity, I had to go on sabbatical from grad school, and devote myself to his full time rehabilitation and early intervention to ensure that he would have the absolute best care which would give him the chance to lead a normal life. CWF provided the break I needed from the world of worry and stress that comes with being a caregiver to a special needs child. I was able to run the website from my iPad or phone while I was in waiting rooms. Talking about the site and planning different features and projects was a mental exercise that helped preserve my sanity and keep the worry over my son at bay. It helped me retain an identity of my own, apart from the world of diagnoses, OT, PT, Speech, wraparound, TSS, BSC, and all the other fun things that come along with the world of Autism Spectrum Disorders.
My son started Kindergarten a month ago, in a normal school. He brings home work done in class which is completely error-free. His behavior chart is consistantly marked “good”. He will always be ‘on the spectrum’, but the early intervention and intensive therapies we have done since 2009 have given him the foundation he needed to be able to excel in school and in the world. No parent on Earth could be more proud of their child, and the way he has overcome his early setbacks. Because of this, I now find myself in a place where I am able to restart my career path and return to graduate school. I have been accepted to begin in January. Until then, I am volunteering my time at my son’s school to help build and organize their library.
I feel that I have taken CWF as far as I can manage, while I am at the helm of the site. I accomplished the goals I set out for the site and have created something that is bigger than myself, something that will last even when I am not actively participating in it. It has been an amazing ride, and I have learned so much from the site, and all of you. I treasure the friendships I have made, and the knowledge I have gained from the site will help me throughout my life.
I have asked Chelsea and Leyla to step in as the main admins. Chelsea has been a fan of Mr. Waltz since 2000, and is very passionate about CWF and spreading knowledge about his career. Leyla runs CWF Italia and has proven to be a very valuable member of the team. I will remain in contact in an advisory role, and still retain ownership of the site, however, Chelsea will be making the decisions on the site from this point on. I feel certain between both of them, that CWF will continue to grow and serve Mr. Waltz’s fans by providing information about his career, and maintain the respectful, dignified tone that CWF has always aspired to create. If they decide to step down in the future I will return as admin until I can find replacements.
Thank you all so much for your support of CWF, and your friendship to me over the past four years. You have made CWF a reality, and helped me through one of the most difficult periods of my life. For this, I will always be grateful to you all, and to Mr. Waltz for his kindness to me and this website.
With best wishes,
