We are three days away from the 66th Annual Cannes Film Festival, where Christoph Waltz will sit the jury with some of the most amazing names in film. Stephen Spielberg is heading the jury, along with Ang Lee, Daniel Auteuil, Nicole Kidman, Vidya Balan, Naomi Kawase, Lynne Ramsay and Cristian Mungiu. This year’s lineup of movies in competition has some amazing films, including Only God Forgives, starring Ryan Gosling, directed by Nicholas Winding Refn. As our press accreditation didn’t show up in time*, we’ll be (attempting to) cover the festival from our slightly-less-exotic HQ in Western Pennsylvania, however, if you are lucky enough to be in Cannes, we’d love any stories you may have from the festival!
Cannes is a particularly relevant competition for Mr. Waltz, because the Prix d’Interpretation Masculin was the first award he won for Inglourious Basterds. He gave the most memorable and touching speech, and we have it here for your enjoyment:
