Helle is here with our Film of the Month for 2013: Der Mörder ist unter uns – Der Fall Gehring

This is one of Christoph Waltz’s later films and he was nominated for an award! Check out her very insightful review! Thank you Helle for this review!

I just bought this one! I need some time because those pesky German DVDs do not have any subtitle, not even in German…and my German is still rusty, but I will manage to watch it and properly understand! 🙂

Just watch it 117 times and you will get it eventually 🙂

Being so close, I thought that Germany and Denmark would be the same as to subtitles for hearing impaired viewers – but no subtitles on a German film! Strange.

Best regards fra Helle

I’m not only native English but also German, so it is difficult to watch and understand this film if I could have this DVD without subtitles. It is deeply regrettable. In Japan, Christoph is still a little unusual actor and hard to get his things but CWF give me many glad news and can share the same feelings for me as always.

Thank you so much for your effort for us!

I have only just started studying German, and thus really can’t understand much of anything at all when I’m watching a film in German. However, I watched this one a couple months ago and still really enjoyed it. It wasn’t too hard to get the gist of what is happening (and Helle’s review is very helpful in that regard!), and it’s fun to watch Christoph in detective/forensic psychologist mode. I’d definitely recommend it. And the watch-alongs are fun, too. I plan to watch, and see if, hopefully, I’ve made some progress with my German.
