Terry Gilliam reveals more details about The Zero Theorem!

by August 21, 2012 Films

Terry Gilliam, in an interview with his fansite, “Dreams”, has revealed more information about The Zero Theorem.  It is a funny, character-driven piece with a very short shooting schedule: Only a little over 30 days!  Therefore it’s crucial to have the very best actors, hence wanting Christoph Waltz on board for it, which is some high praise!  Although the dystopian feel to the film has reminded some fans of 12 Monkeys, Gilliam insists it is a comedy about a man in search of the meaning of life but keeps getting distracted by an annoying teenager and a lusty girl who fancies him.  He’s also spoken about the nudity and other elements to the film, emphasizing that it may not make it into the final cut.  It is another ‘small space’ film for Mr. Waltz, as he will be in a chapel for most of the picture, and Gilliam reports this will be a challenge to him as a director.

It all sounds extremely exciting and we can’t wait to hear more about the production as it gets underway!  What are your thoughts?  Comment below!

I think it will be good and a bit crazy movie. =)
Want to know the whole cast soon! =D

CW has another sort of part and that’s great! He’s amazing as the bad guy but in my opinion it’s enough for now.
He needs to have very different roles to show all of his wondeful acting-talent (like he has done in Germany). Hope he will act in many not-silly-but-funny-comedies too! ;P

I love the idea of CW doing more comedies. He has a deadpan wit and such a dry sense of humor, he’s perfect in roles that allow him to expand those aspects of his abilities.

Like Gilliam said, watching him act is hypnotic – and it is. I can’t think of any other actor working today who draws the audience in and has such a magnetic appeal. It’s impossible to ignore him on screen.

“He was amazing, he was just hypnotic, just watching him, the things he was doing. He was always doing something or absorbing other people’s energy. Whatever it was, he’s a wonderfully watchable actor.”
the minute i read this, i was like this is a director i can trust, i am really glad he is giving Christoph Waltz the recognition he deserves. I am very excited for this film, specially when the acting will be so essential to its success. Nothing to worry about there, as long as you got Mr. Waltz ;)

I’m REALLY looking forward to this film! It sounds like it might be like another “Brazil”, which is one of my favorite films. And it will definitely be nice to see Christoph in a comedy!

I heard that it was a little 12 Monkeys, a little Brazil, and a little Fisher King… even though it’s dystopian, it’s supposed to have a lot of humor in it. And….

CW is supposed to be hairless. As in BALD!
