NEW PROJECT: “It Is No Dream” Documentary on the life of Theodor Herzl

by November 22, 2011 Coming Soon

We have just learned that Christoph Waltz performs the voice of Theodor Herzl in Moirah Films’ upcoming release, “It is No Dream: The Life of Theodor Herzl”. Moriah Films is part of the Simon Wiesenthal center, and they produce documentaries on social justice figures. The film will premiere on January 11, 2012 in Miami.

Thomas Herzl, shocked by the Dreyfus trial and antisemitism spreading through Europe, embarked on a mission to create the state of Israel in Palistine. “It Is No Dream” is a documentary about his epic quest, meeting with heads of state and negotiating to create a sovereign land for the Jewish people. Sir Ben Kingsley narrates.

So, is this like one of those PBS/Ken Burns style documentary sort of thing?

I think so… hopefully more information will be emerging.

If it’s like other films from the center, it will have a central narrator to tell the story (Ben Kingsley) and actors and actresses to voice the historical characters. That’s great that Christoph is voicing Herzl. He has said that he would rather go to a synagogue during the holidays than celebrate Christmas. I don’t believe he follows any religion but he does seem to feel closer to Judaism, and he has attended services.

Indeed he has, Deb. It’s a really interesting project for him to participate in, and I am looking forward to seeing the film.
